{You'll probably think this post is sappy. And I don't apologize.}
I remember when we first brought him home. May of 1998. We had him sleep in the laundry room for the first couple of weeks. He whined all through the night, so I'd get up and sleep on the floor with him.
I remember how he'd lay right next to me, even though it was the middle of the sweltering summer.
I remember his sweet greetings when I'd come home.
A FAITHFUL DOG {A little over the top...I know}
A Faithful Dog Will Play With YouAnd Laugh With You -Or Cry-
He'll Gladly Starve To Stay With You
Nor Ever Reason Why,
And When You're Feeling Out Of Sorts
Somehow He'll Understand
He'll Watch You With His Shining Eyes
And Try To Lick Your Hand.
His Blind, Implicit Faith In You
Is Matched By His Great Love-
The Kind That All Of Us Should Have
In The Master, Up Above.
When Everything Is Said And Done
I Guess This Isn't Odd
For When You Spell "Dog" Backwards
You Get The Name Of God.

See you in Heaven, Bear!

Oh I am so sorry! I know how heart breaking it is to say goodbye to your dog. He sounded like such a wonderful friend and family member. Sending you lots of hugs your way!
It's amazing how much dogs become part of the family. My family dog died this year too. It is really sad! I'm sorry to hear your news, Sara Beth.
Oh my gosh. This breaks my heart! Just ask Jen how much I love my dog. I have nightmares about Skippy dying.
Oh no I had no idea about Bear, that sucks S.B. I'm sorry.

This is such a sad but sweet post. I'm sorry he had to be put to sleep. You did a great job in remembering him though.
NO not Bear! I'm sorry SB. Well... he and George can now finally finish that photo shoot we started long ago. And Bear, you should know I forgive you for growling at me whenever I came to play. And I'm sorry for all those times I locked you outside... and growled back.
